oh yes, once in a year, at least, you’ll need to worry about how to impress someone. and v-day was one of the chances to get you thinking. it wasn’t easy for a girl who’s not that girly and romantic like me
so i tried my best.
it’s almost like a tradition that you have to get chocolates or somewhat chocolate related sweets or desserts for the day, but i just wanted to go a different route – MATCHA COOKIES!
as i was preparing and thinking that for the first time i was so prepared and had everything i needed for baking the cookies. yet i found out that i didn’t have a scale in my kitchen…surprise! what could i do…it was literally the night before valentine’s day, and i didn’t have a car to go out and buy a scale. i decided to trust my instinct. so i poured in what i think would be 80g of sugar, 100g of butter, and 180g of cake flour; and started mixing. it actually looked and felt right. and then the matcha powder. the powder smelt so good, almost made me drink a cup of pure matcha tea at 10pm. mix in the powder then sat the dough in the fridge for 30 mins, and then in the oven for 15 mins at a temperature of 375.
the first batch actually turned out good. at least better than i expected considering measuring all the ingredients without a scale.
the second batch wasn’t so lucky…i tried to double the portion, so i could make more cookies at once. but i guessed my instinct wasn’t good enough when trying to measure double the recipe. the cookies turned out dry and bitter, which i thought was caused by lack of butter and too much matcha powder.
will need to try the recipe again!
